Why I Ran

I ran to bring a fresh perspective to the HCS Board

I'm not looking at this district from the outside.

I have three daughters in District 3 schools, at three different schools. Same drop-off lines, same forms, same first-day nerves as every other family here. I'm not guessing how HCS is doing. I'm living it.

I'll be the first to admit I don't know every challenge facing every student, family, and staff member in this district. But I'm here, today, living it too, the same as thousands of other District 3 parents.

Twenty-two years in the Army taught me how to listen to the people closest to a problem, understand what they're actually dealing with, and turn that into a real decision. That's what I hope to bring to this board.

I also believe if you're asking people to trust you with their kids' education, you owe them more than good intentions. You owe them a real answer: what you'd do, what it costs, and how it gets paid for. That's the standard I held myself to running for this seat, and it's the one I intend to hold now.

The job is to show up prepared, ask the question everyone is thinking, and then come back and tell you honestly what happened.

How I Work

Show up, ask, report back

Most of this job happens away from the board room. It happens in school hallways, at community events, and in conversations across South Huntsville.

That is where I find out what is actually going on. The board meeting is only where it gets decided.

A man in a blue shirt and tan pants is speaking to a group of people in a casual indoor setting. There are three women listening, including a woman with glasses and a gray top, a woman with glasses and a yellow floral shirt, and a man in a patterned shirt. The room has a fireplace, a TV, and large windows with greenery outside.
