How to speak at a board meeting
Board of Education Meetings
The BoE holds public meetings on the first and third Tuesday of every month at 4:30 PM at the Central Office (2601 N. Memorial Pkwy, Huntsville, AL 35810).
Public comment is open to any resident of the district. Most people do not know that, and the ones who do are often unsure how the sign-up works.
You do not need to be an expert, represent a group, or have prepared remarks. You need to be a resident, sign up before the meeting starts, and keep to the time limit.
A few things that help
Be specific about which school or which decision you are talking about. Say what you want the board to do, not only what is wrong. And write it down, because three minutes goes faster than anyone expects.
